gen_check_snmp_if_services This script will walk a device and create a services file for you that can be included into the main nagios.cfg file. Its based off of the 'services-check_snmp_if.template'. Be sure to edit this file first. The nice thing about this is that it can be re-run any time you add/remove interfaces and regenerate the services. I would recommend naming the file something like: 'check_snmp_if_services-hostname.cfg' and including this in your main nagios.cfg file. Some important variables to note inside the template file: HOSTNAME - will be replaced by the hostname you specify by -H SERVDESCR - the name of the interface COMMAND - the command specified in your checkcommands.cfg file OPT - will be the options that are passed to the COMMAND (determined automatiacally) autogen_check_snmp_if_services autogen_check_snmp_if_services hostgroup name devicetype specify the hostgroup name and the device type (if you want to) and it will create a big set of services for the entire hostgroup. This is very useful if you group your hosts by device type (MaxTNTs for example). You need to edit the script to specify the output directory and where the hostgroups file is (so it can read the hostnames). After that, it wouldn't be a bad idea to put this in your crontab (as it's intended to do) - it will restart your nagios for you and everything!
