This scripts checks the status of the NTP daemon on a specified ESX host. Status is OK if the NTP client is running, and CRITCAL if not. Specify the ESX host as an argument to the Powershell script. --------- Syntax: --------- check_ntpd.ps1 [IP of ESX host] -------- Notes: -------- - PowerShell scripts must be allowed to run on the vCenter server (PowerShell Script Execution Policy). - This script uses the VMware.VimAutomation.Core component, which provides cmdlets for automated administration of the vSphere environment. Install VMware vSphere PowerCLI on your vCenter server, if you don't already have it. PowerCLI contains the VMware.VimAutomation.Core component. ---------------------------- Installation instructions: ---------------------------- - Modify the connection settings in the script (vCenter IP, user, password) - Put the Powershell script in the C:Program FilesNSClient++Scripts directory. - In the nsclient.ini file, in the section [/settings/external scripts/scripts], add the following line: check_ntpd=cmd /c echo scripts\check_ntpd.ps1 IP.of.ESX.host; exit $LastExitCode | powershell.exe -command - - Restart the NSClient - On the Nagios server, create a service for the vCenter server with the following check command: check_command check_nrpe!check_ntpd! - Restart Nagios
