Follow the instructions described in the Monitoring VMware With Nagios XI document. The version of each Monitoring wizard could be different in different minor versions of Nagios XI. Make sure you download the correct version! Installing a wrong version of the wizard (too old or too new) can break your system! Old Wizard - Outdated content
by itheodoridis, June 30, 2018

It seems the wizard is old, as it is based on check_esx3.pl plugin which was intented for outdated vmware software versions. The esx3 plugin has evolved into the check_vmware_api plugin which works with current versions. The wizard should be updated to support it. It's unacceptable to be so outdated for commercially available software based on open source current and updated by the community. Straighten your act people.

Works as described, may take a few attempts at installing the SDK but if you follow the instructions to the letter, it works!

It appears as though the VMware SDK has not yet been installed on your Nagios XI server
by nkrake, January 31, 2011

Hi.. I've followed all the installatiion instrutions successfully according to the PDF, however, when I run the wizard and attempt to monitor a guest, I receive the following error: "It appears as though the VMware SDK has not yet been installed on your Nagios XI server. You must install the SDK before you are able to use this wizard." I'v accepted all of the defaults when installing the Perl SDK on our RHEL 5 server. Any thoughts? Regards Nathan (nkrake@therightit.com.au)
